Halloween Tea Party

Halloween Tea Party

The leaves are turning brown, the air is getting cooler, and the days are getting shorter, which means one thing- we’re finally in autumn.

At Leaf, we think autumn is one of the best times of year for one reason and one reason only – Halloween.

Everybody loves Halloween. It’s one of the few times a year when we can dress up and have a great time with the people who mean the most to us. There is just a sense of fun in the air which doesn’t feel present throughout the rest of the year.

If you are somebody with kids or you just adore Halloween, you are likely already planning all of your fun Halloween activities. It can be easy to do the same Halloween activities every year, such as heading to a pumpkin patch or throwing a fancy dress party.

If you are bored of doing the same thing every Halloween, you’ve come to the right place. At Leaf, we think that the next big Halloween social event is tea parties.

Tea parties are all about embracing your whimsical side and giving in to fun, which makes them the perfect pairing with Halloween.

At Leaf, we know something about throwing a fantastic tea party. Here is our guide to throwing a fun Halloween tea party this October.

Decorating

The first thing you need to do to throw a brilliant Halloween tea party is decorate. It is important to embrace the theme, and one way to do that is through decor.

If you want to throw yourself into the event, you can make your own decorations for the Halloween tea party. You’ll be surprised by what you can create with a few sheets of paper.

You could make spiderwebs or even ghostly cut-outs, which will elevate your tea party setting.  However, if you don’t have the time to make your own, you can find plenty of brilliant and inexpensive decorations at most popular stores.

Adding themed decor to your tea party will set the scene for a fun and spooky night, so we definitely suggest that you prioritise decorating.

Selecting Halloween Themed Teas

No tea party is complete without a selection of theme appropriate teas. The best part about Halloween is just how creative you can get and you can have a lot of fun making some delicious drinks.

If you are not sure about what to make, let us inspire you with one of our favourite Halloween themed teas.

Blood (Orange) Rooibos Iced Tea

Blood Orange Rooibos Tea with Loose Leaf Tea Leaves

This blood red, surprisingly sweet and delicious tea is a crowd pleaser at any party and with its rich red colour, it will absolutely fit the theme of your upcoming party.

Ingredients

  • 125ml of water.
  • 2 heaped teaspoons of Blood Orange Rooibos Tea.
  • 30ml of grenadine.
  • 20 frozen cherries.
  • A pinch of cinnamon powder.
  • A cup of ice.
  • Decor of your choosing, we suggest edible spiders or eyes.

Make adjustments to the recipe based on your preferences. If you do not like Blood Orange Rooibos, take a look at our selection of other Rooibos, as we have plenty of delicious flavours to choose from.

Method

  1. Brew your Rooibos tea, leaving it to chill for a few hours in the fridge.
  2. Once cooled, combine the rest of your ingredients in a blender, blending until completely smooth.
  3. Once blended, leave to strain into a jug. In the meantime, prep your glasses by filling with ice and adding any decor.
  4. Pour the mixture into your glasses and garnish to taste.

If this recipe has got your creative juices flowing, make sure you look at our varied selection of teas for further inspiration. At Leaf, we absolutely love seeing the creative ways our teas are used, so be sure to tag us in any teas you make.

Making Delicious Halloween-Themed Food

No tea party is complete without a delicious spread, and with a Halloween-themed party, you have a great opportunity to get really creative with the food you make.

Now, making themed food does not mean that you have to create a gourmet spread; you can take some classic dishes and add an element of Halloween to them.

Sweet Treat Inspiration

Pumpkin and bat-shaped halloween cookies for a halloween tea party.

When it comes to making the perfect Halloween sweet treat, you have a great opportunity to really engage with your creative side.

If you think about it, any sweet treat can transform into a brilliant Halloween snack. For example, you could have a lot of fun decorating cookies like famous horror characters, or you could even turn marshmallows into scary ghouls.

We are tea people, so we love making seasonally themed matcha tea cookies, which could make a brilliant base for a zombie themed cookie.

If you are a chocolate fan, with some melted chocolate and a bit of baking paper, you can make some brilliant chocolate cobwebs which will wow any guests.

Savoury Treat Inspiration

Understandably, it can be slightly more challenging to think of fun and creative Halloween-savoury snacks that don’t take a lot of time to make.

Once again, you really don’t have to make anything too spectacular; you can just add a fun twist to a classic savoury dish.

For example, you could shape mini pizzas into ghost or pumpkin shapes or make delicious pumpkin pies for your guests.

If you feel overwhelmed and as though you don’t have the time to get really creative, you could always get accessories to add to sandwiches, as this will bring a bit of life to your buffet table.

Remember, have some dairy-free and vegan alternatives so you can cater to your friends.

Plan Some Exciting Games or Activities

Yes, sitting around and enjoying delicious tea and food is always fun, but it probably isn’t enough to fill the whole duration of your tea party. If you want it to be an event to remember, you should definitely consider setting up some fun games or activities.

Everybody loves classic Halloween activities such as apple bobbing or pranks, but if you want to do something a bit out of the box, here are our recommendations.

Halloween Tea Party

Halloween Costume Competition

Something fun that you could incorporate into your Halloween tea party is a costume competition, with a Halloween themed prize.

This is a great idea as it encourages people to really immerse themselves in the theme. When people dress up, it creates a talking point and instantly gets people into a good mood.

If you make it into a competition, it adds a fun element of competition to the event, which means that people will actually put effort into their costumes and create a much more exciting atmosphere for everyone.

Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin carving might come with some challenges if you have a few children attending your tea party, but if you have enough people to supervise, it could still be a success.

If you’re having a tea party with just adults, pumpkin carving is bound to be a hit. Sometimes, we all need to reconnect with times from our childhoods and get a bit creative.  Make sure you have enough tools for everyone, and select smaller pumpkins, as they don’t take as long to carve.

Halloween Themed Bingo

Bingo is always a great game for bringing fun to any event. You can fit a game of bingo at just about any event, and it is always a crowd pleaser.

Bingo is really easy to set up, and you can easily customise any bingo game to make it Halloween-themed. For example, you could use Halloween pictures or famous Halloween phrases.

Guess The Halloween Chocolate

If you want a silly game that is guaranteed to put everyone in a great mood, you should definitely consider playing Guess the Halloween Chocolate.

In this game, you melt down popular Halloween chocolates until they are only recognisable by taste. This game can get messy, so if you want an elegant tea party, this may not be the game for you.
