Brewing Guides

We want you to have a perfect cuppa every time, but with so many varieties of tea, each having different properties, the way to achieve this isn’t always the same.

Here’s a simple guide we’ve put together on how best to brew different tea types, to help you achieve just that.

How to brew the perfect cup

Step 1
Bring freshly poured water to boil in the kettle. Pour some boiling water into your cups and teapot to rinse

Step 2
Add the correct measurement of tea leaves per person to the pot (as advised on the tea label)

Step 3
Pour a little cold water into the teapot to bring down the temperature of the boiling water when it’s added, if required (as advised on the tea label)

Step 4
Pour the correct amount of boiling water into the teapot (e.g. 1tsp = 200ml of water) and follow the recommended brewing time for the best possible results

Step 5
Pour and enjoy your perfectly brewed cup of tea

Have you tried your tea iced?

Step 1
Add the recommended measurement of tea and cold water per serving to a container (tea pot, sports bottle etc.).

Step 2
Place the container into the refrigerator for at least 8 hours, but for best results leave over night.

Step 3
Strain all the tea leaves from the brew.

Step 4
Pour and enjoy your delicious homemade cold brew tea.

How to make the perfect matcha

There are lots of ways to get your matcha fix. You just need ½ teaspoon of matcha to get all its super powers.

Matcha is traditionally drunk as a hot tea, whisked into hot water but because it’s a powder, you can whisk it into juices or smoothies, you can drink it as a latte (almond milk is our favourite) and even add it to fruit juices or smoothies.

Follow our step by step guide to create the perfect matcha!

Boiling Kettle

1. BOIL THE KETTLE
Measure out 1/3 cup (for a thicker matcha) or 1/2 cup (for a thinner matcha) of boiling water into a measuring cup and leave it to cool for 3 minutes until its barely too hot to touch.

Spoon

2. ADD THE MATCHA
Place one bamboo teaspoon (1/2 teaspoon of Matcha powder) into a bowl. Next add one bamboo tea scoop (1/2 teaspoon) of fresh cool water to the Matcha in the bowl.

Whisk

3. GET WHISKING
Whisk the Matcha vigorously in a ‘W’ motion until it’s creamy. Keep turning the bowl slowly whilst whisking to mix and oxygenate all of the liquid in the bowl.

Cup

4. SERVE & ENJOY!
Add your desired hot water from the measuring cup and sit back and enjoy!
